What Oystar is
Oystar carries referrals between health facilities. It is coordination software. It does not give medical advice, does not make clinical decisions, and does not replace the judgement of the clinicians using it.
Who may use it
Accounts are for health workers acting in a professional capacity. You confirm that the facility you register is one you work at, and that you are authorised to act for it.
A facility stays unverified until we have checked its licence. Unverified facilities can send referrals but cannot receive them.
Patient consent
You are responsible for obtaining the patient’s consent before sending their record to another facility. By sending a referral you confirm that the patient has agreed to it.
Every referral is recorded against the named clinician responsible for it, with the time it was sent. That record cannot be edited or deleted.
Urgent cases
Oystar does not guarantee that a specialist will read or answer a referral within any particular time. Escalating an urgent finding stays the responsibility of the referring and receiving clinicians, by whatever means they normally use.
Early access
This is a working build. Accounts and data are real and persist, but features may change and the service may be interrupted. Please use test data rather than real patient records until we tell you otherwise.
Ending your account
You can ask us to close your account at any time. Referral records are kept as required for clinical record-keeping, in line with the privacy notice.
This is an early-access product. These terms will be reviewed by counsel before Oystar is used with real patient records, and this page will be replaced when it is.
